Adoption of the Osteopathy Act

We are pleased to announce that the Osteopathy Act of New Brunswick was officially adopted on June 6, 2025. This represents a historic milestone for our profession, as it lays the legal foundation for the creation of the College of Osteopaths of New Brunswick (CONB)—a professional regulatory body dedicated to protecting the public and ensuring safe, ethical osteopathic practice in the province.

The CONB Board is actively working with the support of legal counsel to finalize the Bylaws and governance structure required to bring the College into full operation.

Becoming a Member of the CONB

According to Section 69(2) of the Osteopathy Act, the following individuals are eligible for registration with the College of Osteopaths of New Brunswick (CONB):

Any person who, at the time the Act comes into force, is employed as an osteopath in the province, or has been employed in that capacity at any time in the past three years. The names and addresses of these individuals shall be entered, upon request, in the register, provisional register, specialist register, professional corporations register, or any applicable list, as directed by the Council.

This means that any individual who practiced osteopathy in New Brunswick between June 2022 and June 2025 may apply for registration.

Applicants must provide:

  • Proof of osteopathic practice (e.g., insurance receipts),

  • A New Brunswick address (home or clinic),

  • Exact dates of practice.

Eligible individuals will receive a temporary license pending the full adoption of the College Bylaws.

Applications should be submitted directly to the Registrar at registrar.aonb@gmail.com

Key Information to Remember:

  • The next AGM will take place on November 2, 2025.

  • The annual membership fee of $1000 is due on September 1, 2025.
Applicants who join before that date are required to pay a prorated amount based on the number of months remaining in the calendar year (e.g., 2 months = (2/12) × $1000 = $166.67).

  • The continuing education (CEU) cycle runs on a 3-year basis. First submissions will be due in 2026. The required number of CEU hours will be adjusted proportionally based on your official registration date with the College. This means that a member who joins partway through the cycle will not be expected to submit the full amount.

Anyone seeking to join the College after June 6, 2025 as new members will be required to meet the full admission criteria, which includes education aligned with World Health Organization (WHO) standards.
